There are some interesting things going on in the publishing world today.
Barry Eisler, international thriller writer, mentioned to Joe Konrath that he just turned down a $500,000 book deal. He says, "I know it’ll seem crazy to a lot of people, but based on what’s happening in the industry, and based on the kind of experience writers like you are having in self-publishing, I think I can do better in the long term on my own."
On the other side of the coin, Amanda Hocking, successful self-publishing author is reportedly shopping
a four-book series to major publishers, attracting bids of well over $1 million for world English rights.
What an interesting time to be a writer.
